Heritage House Museum Reopens March 1

The Heritage House Museum will open its doors for the year Tuesday, March 1. They will resume normal hours which are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Since closing for the Winter this past December they have been rearranging and adding new artifacts and displays. For those of you who visited last year there will be many new things to see. Arkansas Highlands Folk Project features Heritage House Museum

MOUNT IDA – The Heritage House Museum in Mount Ida was recently featured in a video as part of the Arkansas Highlands Folk Project. Museum Director Barry Mickey talked about the library and all that it has to offer. Arkansas Highlands Folk Project is the brainchild of Charlie Moore who travels the Arkansas Highlands in search of old time music history. This is the second video to feature Montgomery County. 12th Annual Sorghum Festival set for Saturday

MOUNT IDA – The Heritage House Museum of Montgomery County will host their 12th annual Sorghum Festival this Saturday, October 9. The festival gives everyone a chance to get out and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the Heritage House Museum and sorghum cook room.The annual event is held at the museum which is located at 819 Luzerne Street in Mount Ida and is free for everyone. Mount Ida: A Little Gem of the Ouachitas

Mount Ida, located about 40 miles beyond Hot Springs in west-central Arkansas, is one of the state’s smallest county seats with a population of some 1,076 kind souls. But this center of commerce for Montgomery County swings far above its weight.   Let’s start with history. Museum Quilt Block Joins State Quilt Trail

Heritage House Museum was recently featured on the Arkansas Quilt Trail Facebook page. The museum has a quilt block displayed on the Exhibit Barn which is the first on the developing Montgomery County Quilt Trail.  The pattern, “Four Tulips” is found on the Exhibit Barn at the Heritage House Museum of Montgomery County at 819 Luzerne St. in Mount Ida and can be clearly seen as one drives by the museum.The quilt block is, appropriately, a painted reproduction of a quilt that is on display in the museum, that was donated by Alice Widener and Viola Widener Payte.  According to

Heritage House Museum Opens for 20th Season

The Heritage House Museum of Montgomery County kicks off their 20th Anniversary Year with a host of improvements at the museum, including new interactive exhibits. The Heritage House Museum opened their 20th season March 1 and look forward to sharing their many improvements with their visitors. Returning visitors will notice several additions and renovations while taking a tour of the museum. Many of the mannequins used in the exhibits have received new looks. The Heritage House Museum of Montgomery County hosted their 10th Annual Sorghum Festival Saturday, October 26, in spite of the threat of rain most of the day. Museum Features New Hands-On Exhibit

Visitors to The Heritage House Museum of Montgomery County will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the history of the area thanks to a “Hands On Exhibit” at the museum. This new exhibit will only be available for a limited time from September 3 through October 8. The exhibit will give visitors an opportunity to hold history in the palm of their hands.
